Formerly professional Basket-Ball player I started CGO (Claude Gasnal Organisation) with the objective to organize events for businesses (VIP facilities at the automobile 24-hour Race of Le Mans, 24-hour kart-racing competition for businesses, seminars, conventions, incentive trips...) in order for them to create customers’ loyalty and increase colleague motivation. My taste for sports – all of them and especially cycling- naturally led me to designing the « 24 Heures Vélo au Mans » cyclosportiv race. Positive feedback I was encouraged in following this idea. Of course the « Automobile Club de l’Ouest » offered us its support in this project and especially by making the Bugatti Circuit available for this event.
Long live the 24 Heures Vélo !

What a great idea to organise the « 24 Heures Vélo » on the Bugatti Circuit! Cycling is nowadays in a booming phase and will be even more in the future. Ecology, environment, pollution, wellness and health are strong and critical concepts nowadays. In the same way challenge is another crucial concept in the modern society of ours whose foundations have been shaken. As a matter of fact, CGO now offers us a new challenge to be experienced on one’s own or as a team: « 24 Heures Vélo » race. This event should become a major and renowned large-audience competition such as “l’Etape du Tour” or as why not ... New York City Marathon.
No matter what, this race has to become a yearly meeting event for all kinds of bike riders: 24 hours of friendship, conviviality and sports in a unique and legendary world-famous venue.

I have been an affiliated bike rider of the FFC since 1974 and I am now president of the cycling association « Le Mans Sarthe Vélo ». My first introduction to cycling was as a competitor of the « 24 Heures du Saonois » race in Saint Calez (I finished 2nd in 1976 ... he got me in the final sprint!). I have always been disappointed by the fact that cycling was never part of any great endurance-type races. For this reason I did not hesitate a second when Claude Gasnal asked me if I would like « Le Mans Sarthe Vélo » to be partner of the event.

President of the National Committee « Cyclisme Pour Tous » (for development of leisure cycling)
Concerned by the world of cycling for 35 years I have been working for 20 years as an elected executive in various regional agencies of the French Federation for Cycling (FFC). I have been now member of the administration board of the FFC for 12 years in charge of « Cyclisme Pour Tous » (development of leisure cycling on a national scale).
Project « 24 Heures Vélo » fits exactly my goals and duties in the FFC. It features conviviality, endurance, and manages through sports to bring people together while encouraging diversity ... I actually took part several years ago in 7 « 24 Heures du Saosnois » race in the region and had the idea to organize a 24-hour cycling race in . Unfortunately the idea has never been developed for not finding suitable organisation partners.
When Claude Gasnal offered me to be part of this project, my answer was naturally yes. I will therefore make my contribution by giving technical guidance and ensure the cooperation with the national Federation. I wish and I expect a huge success for this first edition of the « 24 Heures Vélo » race.
